Dear RCI Members,

           On behalf of the RCI Foundation Board of Directors, I am very pleased to share with you the creation of the Special Educational Grants (SEG) program. This program is designed to assist present and former RCI members who may have experienced financial challenges due to the current economic downturn to attend the 2010 RCI Annual Convention & Trade Show in Orlando, Florida.

           These grants will provide each recipient with full RCI convention registration as well as reimbursement of up to $500 to be applied toward the costs of transportation and lodging. These one-time grants from the Foundation are available to RCI members or former members who are currently unemployed for at least 30 days, or who have been unemployed for at least 90 days since January 1, 2009.

           Thanks to the generous donations of numerous RCI members during the past several years, the Foundation is pleased to be in a position to offer these grants. Providing recipients the ability to attend the convention, thereby keeping them current on important skills and information, as well as permitting them to earn the CEHs necessary to retain their registrations, will assist them when they return to the profession as the economy rebounds.

           The grant application is available by following the link above. The number of available grants is limited and the applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. I encourage all RCI members to spread the word about the grants to colleagues who may need assistance and who would benefit from the educational and networking opportunities that attendance at the convention provides. In some cases, we may no longer have current contact information for potential recipients in our database.
